BROWNFIELDS & REUSE OPPORTUNITY WORKING NETWORK (BROWN)
BROWN, the Brownfields & Reuse Opportunity Working Network, is a partnership of community revitalization experts that has been together since 2012. BROWN has a wide range of expertise, from city planners to community champions to filmmakers and farmers, to environmental health professionals, and others. BROWN helps communities shape redevelopment plans that include community health improvements. Basically, the Community Partnerships concept is a conversational brainstorm. BROWN, free of charge, can assist communities seeking to create a revitalization vision. BROWN provides technical assistance and resources to help communities have healthy redevelopment plans.
Until 2025, BROWN was a volunteer network affiliated with a federal land reuse program. BROWN has helped communities leverage over $10,000,000 for revitalization plans. You can read more about BROWN's success with this program here: BROWN Assistance and Partnership: Fact Sheets | ATSDR Land Reuse Health Program.
BROWN has been a supporter and partner with BEST Early from our inception. BROWN members have served as consultants, guest speakers, and co-hosts. We especially thank Dr. Laurel A. Berman for being a great supporter of BEST Early in many ways. Now, BROWN is part of BEST Early and is going GLOBAL! In 2023, we welcomed partners from 17 different countries. We welcome you! BROWN is here to help you solve your land reuse and revitalization challenges. To join BROWN or learn more details, please contact Dr. Laurel A. Berman at laurel.berman@gmail.com.
